January 31st 2018 Full Moon
By Lee Ann Cornell

January 31st 2018 will be quite a celestial event that has not occurred in over 150 years. A Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse, Red Moon, Blue Moon, Super Moon Alignment will all occur at all same time.

When two full moons occur in one month, the second full moon is referred to as a Blue Moon. A Blue Moon normally occurs once every 2 ½ years. This year a Blue Moon will occur twice. The second Blue Moon in 2018 will occur on March 31st. There will be zero full moons in the month of February this year. In four or five years per century there are two Blue Moons. The first Blue Moon always occurs in January and the second predominantly in March. The last time we had an eclipse during a Blue Moon was in March of 1866, over 150 years ago.

As the moon becomes fully illuminated, a lunar eclipse will occur. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its shadow. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely, with the Earth in the middle. A total lunar eclipse has the direct sunlight completely blocked by the earth's shadow.

On Wednesday, January 31, the full moon will pass through the shadow of the Earth. For 77 minutes, the usually silvery moon will be covered with a red shadow. This is what is referred to as a Red or Blood Moon. Sunlight passes through the earth’s atmosphere getting scattered or bent. As this happens, sunbeams peek out around the edges of the moon, giving it a reddish or copper color.

A Super Moon Alignment will occur when all of this is happening. A Super Moon Alignment occurs when the moon is in its nearest approach to the earth. A perigee is referred to as a Super Moon Alignment and it happens a few times each year. The Moon orbits the earth in an elliptical pattern. This is why the moon is closer to the earth at times. An apogee is when the moon is the farthest away from the surface of the earth.

It has been noted throughout the scientific community over the years that there is an increase in tectonic activity and geophysical stress during eclipses and super moon alignments. It is like the old saying “the straw that breaks the camel’s back”. The weakest point gives way with all the gravitational pull on the surface of the earth. I have been watching these patterns for many years. All twelve astrological constellations rule specific regions of the earth. All zodiac signs are ruled by one of four elements which are earth, air, water or fire. Many times, you can get a clue as to what type of occurrence will take place by observing what sign the moon is in during eclipses and super moon alignments. On January 31th 2018, the moon will be in Leo. This astrology sign is ruled by fire and part of the area of the earth that governs is the Philippines. A major evacuation is already occurring now due to the fiery eruption of Mount Mayon in the Philippines. The effects of a Super Moon Alignment can usually be felt at least a week before or after the actual event. It appears as though the effects of the celestial event that will be occurring on January 31st have already begun.

The Philippines' most active volcano erupted three more times on last Tuesday, with one blast generating one of the most massive lava displays since it started acting up more than a week ago. The eruptions occurred a day after officials raised Mount Mayon's alert level of four to a scale of five. Lava fountains gushed up 2,300 feet above Mayon's crater and ash plumes rose up to 1.9 miles Monday night. Over 56,000 villagers have been forced to evacuate. Authorities warned that eruptions may continue for weeks to come. Wow. Talk about a fiery Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse, Red Moon, Blue Moon, Super Moon Alignment in the fiery zodiac sign of Leo.

The moon represents the emotional make-up of our personalities and rules the subconscious mind and that which is instinctual. When there is a full moon, an eclipse or a super moon alignment, the effects of the moon can seem to intensify. Many people report a sense of restlessness and vivid dreaming as a full moon approaches. The moods in individuals during these time periods seem intensified and extremes in behavior can be observed. Mood swings and erratic personality behavior patterns are more apparent. . I have spoken to many professionals in law enforcement and mental health care who explained that they see higher levels of activity during full moons and these establishments staff more employees in accordance with these cycles as a result. The same has been said for bars. The common denominator is enhanced emotions.

When the moon aligns with the constellation of Leo, individuals may strive to be more organized and appear to be more optimistic, hardworking, persistent, affectionate and generous. Individuals tend to want to be noticed and appreciated more than usual. This could be the highest emotional time of the year for people, especially for those whose sun or moon are in Leo. Be careful not to allow your pride to get the best of you during this celestial event and don’t try to put out fiery tempers by fanning the flame with your own fiery temperament. Try to remain cool and do not say or do things, in the heat of the moment that you may regret later. This fiery lunar cycle shall soon pass. Focus on the bigger picture and show your appreciation to people around you. Strive to capture the fiery passion you have for life and strive to use it in a productive manner. It might be a good time to stay home during this celestial event and work on projects or watch heart- warming movies. Leo rules the heart so don’t put undue stress on your heart and do things that bring joy to your heart. Again, don’t get caught up in the heat of the moment and keep your cool in this fiery cycle.
